CIRCUITS OF SUCCESS
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science at the University of Maine at Farmington. I was worried at first about getting a B.A. instead of a B.S., but getting to take philosophy and art along side computer science was a choice I’ll never regret.
UMF also had special topics courses and independent studies that were student requested. The most notable were Hacking the Kinect, Data Mining, and Android Mobile Development. I got a great education at UMF and would highly recommend pursuing a degree in Computer Science there.
I’m a Data Developer at a consulting firm called Arkatechture. My role consists of data analysis, ETL development, data modeling, solution architecture, and developing enterprise applications in C# or Python. I collaborate with clients on a daily basis to make the most of their data. I also help administrate Arkatechture's internal AWS infrastructure where we design and develop new projects and accelerators.
The culture. We’re a small company and being able to work along side everybody in it is a blast. We work hard and we play hard, and there’s always freedom to learn new skills and improve existing ones.
Getting to be a part of growing a company and a brand is extremely rewarding. I’m very satisfied in my choice to go with a small, new company.
Maine will always be where I want to live! I was born and grew up here, and I’ll surely come back if I ever leave. It’s a beautiful state and the people are kind, creative, and fun. There’s also a large maker/hacker presence in Maine with regular meetups in Bangor and Portland; it’s a great place to network and meet new and like-minded people.
