Code.org CSD week-long summer workshop experience recap

August 16, 2021 · Blog by Tia Welch

I had such a wonderful time this past week at Project>Login's PLP Summer Workshop for Computer Science Discoveries! Even though we did not get to experience this in person, the virtual setting was just as effective, if not more effective, in preparing me for new teaching techniques for CSD this year.

Having the synchronous sections together will all the teachers in zoom really increased the opportunities to connect with the other CSD teachers. The almost constant breakout rooms made it incredibly easy to work alongside these teachers and collaborate.

As a Code.org teacher for the last 3 years, the team at Code.org never ceases to amaze me with all the effort and updates they provide for the curriculum.

Our asynchronous time was spent on a platform called The Place, which worked great as a discussion board where we could elaborate on our thoughts and ideas for the upcoming school year.

I am feeling much more prepared to bring CSD to my classroom this year and implement even more new approaches to experience Computer Science and how we can use it in our everyday lives!

Thank you so much for the amazing opportunity to learn from such wonderful facilitators, learn more about the curriculum, and connect with amazing teachers around the area and farther to build great connections for the future!
