Incumbent Worker Grant Funds Available to Employers

June 11, 2018

The TechHire Partnership Grant is a federally-funded grant awarded to Coastal Counties Workforce in Brunswick and available statewide.  One goal of TechHire is to help build a highly-skilled, highly-trained workforce for Maine’s information technology (IT) and computing sector.  The program is currently seeking Maine businesses to participate in the incumbent worker training aspect of the program.  TechHire can provide training dollars under the grant for assisting with upskilling of front-line, entry and mid-level workers of IT business operations via incumbent worker training.  Training grants provide valuable short-term or accelerated skill upgrading or customized training for the training needed by employers.  Training grants made under the project must result in employees attaining an industry-recognized credential or certificate applicable to the Information Technology (IT) industry sector.  Employees receiving training must be Maine residents to be served with grant funds.   Projects that will be given special attention under this funding opportunity are those in which employees successfully completing training are promoted into new positions, receive a pay increase, or otherwise advance within the IT industry sector.

This 4 million dollar project is fully funded by a U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration grant awarded to and managed by Coastal Counties Workforce, Inc., the Local Workforce Development Board for Maine’s six coastal counties. This program/activity is an equal opportunity employer/program. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

Act fast – the deadline for Maine employers to express interest in this round of funding assistance is: June 30, 2018.  To schedule an appointment and receive an employer application please contact Kyle Olson of the TechHire Maine project staff on or before the deadline via email to Kyle.Olson@workforcesolutionsme.org or by calling 207-956-2959.
